Do yourself a favour: SPEAK POSITIVE!
Yes, I know you want to say: sometimes you have to say things straight. True, I agree. Positive language means to say instead of: don’t do…. what the person should do. Or say stop and say what you would like to have….. Or instead of I don’t like….; I do like and say what you really like. Using don’t or won’t is like showing the green and red light at the same time: CONFUSING!
Yes, there are still people that have difficulties to understand that clear and frank language. They have even more difficulties with don’t. Why? Simply it confuses the minds, YOUR mind and theirs. That has to do with the way the mind works. I am sure you have red or heard that hundreds of times.
When you are sceptic ask say to a child “don’t do ….” You will see that the child will do right that. When you replace the “don’t do” with what they should do they usually do that.
Anybody is happy to know what another person like to get. That way you make it easier for others to support YOU to get what you want. Help them and you with clear positive language to achieve the best.
It takes a bit of training to develop a clear and positive way to speak. You only should say or write positive in accordance
with your feelings. Your body will detect any lie right away. Your body will act according to what you say and how you say it. The reaction is the same whether you speak in your mind, loud to yourself or others.
You can learn to perceive the changes in your body when using positive or negative language. Use that knowledge to your best.
Over time your body shows what way you talk most of the time. When you start talking the other way round people can spot it easily when they have learned to read the signs. Have you ever observed peoples language and its connection with their voice, mimic, gesture and poise?
You learn a lot that way about them more important about you. Even people with supplements like glasses have similar attitudes or behaviour and language. It varies as all have a different mixture of all of it. From general similarities you can dig deeper and learn about the tiny little differences.
Using positive language helps YOU. Positive language enlightens YOU, keep you healthy and attract people towards you. Positive language includes words for negative feelings or situations. It means just to skip the don’ts and won’ts. When you speak in a positive way according to your intention and feelings you lower the risk of misunderstandings.
You create a positive outcome for you. Your voice sounds different when you are positive using positive words. So you teach and program your body for a similar positive feeling on and on. That drives you to go for your passion, enjoyable experiences and uplifting supportive people.
To train yourself to use positive language you need a bit dedication and time. You can start with the things you write. When you finished the draft leave it for a while than go back mark all the don’ts and won’ts and the verbs behind. Use a synonym dictionary and look for alternatives. Even better think about what you want to say with that sentence. Write it again with the appropriate words that say what you really want. Or record yourself and listen after a while, make notes and replace the unclear with positive words.
See how that changes the outline and meaning of your text or speech. Over time you will recognise all that don’ts and won’ts in other people’s language: You will come up with alternatives in your mind immediately.
Bit by bit you program your mind to come up with the positive version faster and faster. You will enjoy the changes. You will experience more positive reactions. You will experience how you can brighten your day. You will experience a lot of FUN!
Go and enjoy speaking and writing in a positive way!
