The Joy of Mastery!

Do you know that JOY is THE ENERGY behind extraordinary performances? That is true for professions like actors or musicians and authors. It is also true for professions like managers, engineers, financial advisers, shop assistants, teachers, coaches. And it is also true for you regardless of the field of expertise you are working in: When you enjoy something you achieve better results!

Have you ever thought why JOY is so important when talking about the quality of performance, your performance?

You might think that it is enough to learn a profession and then just doing what you have learned leads to good results. With some luck you get average results.

Someone who really enjoys the work and learning more will soon be ahead of you. Just because for such a person it is easier to be good and improve further.

Be honest and tell me, have you ever seen an extraordinary performance from someone who hated what he was doing? Have you ever seen someone doing something excellent regardless of her abilities and interests?

In case you love average results and a high fluctuation of your employees it is fine to have anybody doing a job.

When your aim is gaining satisfied customers recommending your product or service then you need special employees. When you want to perform better you have to change the way you work: from just doing what you ought to do to doing it with joy. Do what you like to do in the way you like doing it. That is the first step to succeed in the long run.

Have you ever looked behind extraordinary accomplishments or results? They are always connected to big emotions: anger, desperation, fear and JOY.

While the first three are the feelings everybody wants to get rid of or avoid, JOY is THE FEELING everyone wants over and over again.

While the first three are motivational enough to quickly find a solution, they also create the motivation to never ever come in a similar situation. So a person who is driven by one of those three feelings, can perform extraordinary because of the internal motivation to end this awful feeling.

This person will avoid to do such a task again and it will ignore recognising requests to do something similar. When the person fails to find a way to avoid such things, the performance will suffer. Anybody who hates doing something makes it as worse as possible to initiate that others start doing it themselves.

Do you know what the result of that will be? Namely this person will tell around how awful is the work atmosphere, the management, the products or services are. This person easily start blaming your company for the own bad health and circumstances. That could happen through showing it to lower performance, more diseases or by literally telling it around.

Do you have the willingness to pay for that outcome? Or do you prefer to pay for turning things around or prevent such issues? Better to convince employees, customers and society, that your intention and product or service is good. YOU get the positive revenge out of it.

The inspiration and motivation behind an action is very important.

JOY offers a lot of opportunities. What does a happy employee tell his family and friends? And how does he deal with customers and colleagues?

Right, this person will tell the whole world how great your companies products or services are. This personis telling anybody how wonderful the working atmosphere is. And customers, family and friends will believe this word of mouth. Why? Simply because this person is authentic and they can see the happiness and joy.

And this person seems to have endless energy and ideas to improve the own performance and that of others. This person is brightening the days of others. Such a person does brighten your day! You are willing to do a bit more than the average,when this person asks you something.

When such a joyful person enters a room the atmosphere gets brighter. In a good atmosphere it is easier to work at your best, right?

When YOU are the person who enjoys what and how you do things, you can assure that you are living YOUR way. You attract people towards you that want to feel the joy being at their best. And guess what? It will be even more fun for you to work with such people.

You are surrounded with people who are enjoying to perform at their best. You are challenged to improve your performance. The joy increases the better you become.

Have you ever enjoyed a speech from someone who hates to deliver it? I think you fidget on your chair, looking at your watch and think what a timewaster.

When someone enjoys giving a speech, you sit there listening attentively and thinking, „Yes, I agree“, or „I have to ask this and that“. And at the end you think, „How can I get hold of this person to discus my points or to ask that person when it delivers another speech and which topic?“.

You enjoy being around when someone loves doing what s/he does.

MASTERY and JOY are connected. Why? Simply because you have to know yourself and respect and love yourself to feel true inner joy.

Now, you know what  people you have to watch out for and why.
